Lpm Acquires Intercity Group |
LPM further expands contract cleaning, security and food production offering in North
LPM Group has once again expanded its Northern business portfolio, with the acquisition in April of InterCity Group Limited. Located in Manchester. InterCity provides contract cleaning, security and ancillary services to commercial offices, industrial sites and food production facilities in the North West and Midlands.
This is the second acquisition for LPM in the past six months. In October 2007 LPM acquired Dependable Services Limited, a 50 year old contract cleaning and janitorial supplies business based in Leeds.
InterCity Group's diverse client base and expertise will provide LPM with further exciting growth opportunities in the region, and will enable it to support its existing customers and staff in the area more directly. Specifically, the Group has considerable expertise in the broader food market and this provides a platform from which LPM can expand this specialist niche service offering to a wider audience.
David Howroyd, CEO of LPM, commented:
"InterCity is a highly regarded business known for its high quality service, as evidenced by its blue chip customer base. The acquisition strengthens LPM's presence in the North of England and provides the next key step towards building our national coverage."
Eugene Boyle, Managing Director of InterCity Group commented:
"I believe we are an excellent strategic fit with the LPM Group. Not only can LPM leverage our expertise and strong customer relationships, we are able to enhance LPM's regional coverage through our significant operations in the North West and help facilitate their entry into new markets"
Since 2004, InterCity has grown into an £8m turnover business employing 700 staff who provide a range of office cleaning, industrial cleaning, food hygiene and manned guarding services to 160 customers spread over 350 sites. Customers range from industrial firm JCB, to estate agent Savills and food company Dairy Gold. In April 2007 InterCity was registered under ISO 9001: 2000 for its Quality Management processes.
The enlarged LPM business now has a combined turnover of over £35m. LPM will continue to grow organically and target suitable acquisitions that will strengthen the group's national coverage.
